MR. ROOSEVELT ORDERS CURTAILMENT. LOSS OF LIFE IN CARRIAGE OF MAILS. ATTEMPT TO STEM FATAL ACCIDENTS. (Received Sunday, 6.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 10. Because of the loss of ten lives since the United States Army started carrying air mails, President Roosevelt to-day ordered the immediate curtailment of the service, except "on such routes and under such weather conditions, equipment and personnel as will insure as far as possible against the recurrence of fatal accidents.” FATALITIES TO DATE, CRASH IN HEAVY SNOWSTORM. NEW YORK, March 9. Two more Army aviators were filled to-day while carrying mails, making .a total of nine who have died, either in actual service or in preparing to take over privately-handled deliveries of mail matter. Lieutenant Otto Wienecke crashed near Chardon, Ohio, in the midst of a heavy snowstorm ’and was instantly killed. Private Floyd Marshall, one of the crew of a large bomber, died of injuries following a erack-up when the machine was taking off at Daytona Beach, Florida. Two companions were seriously injured. (Received Sunday, 6.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, March 10. two more Army pilots were killed to-night at Cheyenne, Wyoming, when their mail ’plane struck an electric power line and was burned near the air port. Representatives Bacon and Fish, in the House, reiterated the charges of “leealised murder.” A representative, Mrf^Rogers, vainly tried to get consideration tor a resolution demanding the immediate discontinuance by the Army of the carnage of mails. The House adjourned without taking action.
