STATION COOK’S DEATH.

FOLLOWING ALLEGED QUARREL. POLICE MAKE AN ARREST. (Press Association.—Extraordinary.) HASTINGS, March 11.' A cook, Jack Williams, 23, was found with his throat cut, with a blood-stain-ed breadknife lying beside the body on Papakihau Station, Porangahau, late this afternoon. Earlier in the day, the deceased and an elderly fellow cook, aged 65, whose name is not yet known, had a quarrel which resulted in a scuffle. The body of Williams was subsequently found in a whare. Both mem are newcomers to the station and appeared to be on friendly terms. The police subsequently proceeded to Porangahau and arrested the elder man, who will be brought to Waipukurau.
