EVIDENCE AT SYDNEY HEARING. EMPLOYEES’ TESTIMONY. (Received Thursday, 10.55 p.m.) . SYDNEY, March 1. At the petrol inquiry George Ferguson, terminal manager of the Texas Company, admitted that a shipment of Power kerosene in the steamer South Africa was blended in the company’s tanks for the purpose of avoiding payment of Customs duty and to increase supplies to meet orders. Robert Beaton, assistant in the operating division, said he accepted full responsibility for allowing blending in the tank. He never discussed the matter with Beverley. He did not regard it as a fraud, but as a technical irregularity. The hearing was adjourned. NO INCREASE IN PRICE. (Received Thursday, 10.55 p.m.) MELBOURNE', March 1. The major oil companies are making no increase in price this week, though a rise of a penny a gallon has been rumoured.
