JOHNSONVILLE SALE.
WELLINGTON, March 1. Prices at the Johnsonville sale yesterday were generally firm. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Company, Ltd:, offered an average yarding of cattle, and a smaller yarding than usual of sheep. Prices for bullocks were on a par with last week’s rates, while cows and heifers were firmer. Wethers met a good demand at late rates, while ewes were keenly sought after at prices showing a slight advance on last week’s sale. Lambs met a ready sale, showing no alteration on last week’s prices. Cattle: Prime heavy bullocks, £B/8/to £7/12/-; heavy bullocks, £7/5/- to £6/12/-; prime heavy cows and heifers, £6/3/- to £5/12/-; runners, £2/9/to £2; vealers, £l/18/6 to £l/8/6. Sheep.—Prime extra heavy wethers, 26/3 to 25/-; prime heavy wethers, 24/9 to 23/4; prime extra heavy ewes, 20/19/5, 19/-; prime heavy ewes, 18/8; heavy spring lambs, 22/6 to 20/-; medium spring lambs, 19/- to 18/4.
