SHOW BULLOCKS.
JUDGING AT WAJNGAWA WORKS. BEEF OF HIGH QUALITY. There was a large attendance of district breeders and others at the Waingawa Works on Saturday morning, when the Masterton Show beef taken over by Messrs. T. Borthwick and Sons was judged on the hooks for prizes of £5, £3 and £3, donated by the firm. The ■competition was inaugurated by the firm to stimulate interest among district breedeis in the commercial possibilities of ;n export trade in chilled beef. The bullocks were killed at the worka on Friday and were judged on the hooks for the best two pairs of hindquarters. Keen satisfaction with the general quality of the beef was expressed by Mr. J. Smith, grader for Messrs. Borthwick and Sons, who acted as judge. Taken all through, he said, it was a wonderful lot of beef. One pair of hindquarters, he added’ were the best he had seen. They were placed first and in his opinion were absolutely perfect. The dressing of the beef was also very good. Mr. P. J. Borthwick and Mr. El G.
