OBITUARY.

MR. CHRISTIAN LARSEN. Another link with, the early pioneering days of the North Wairarapa wa» broken yesterday by the death of Mr. Christian Larsen, ,o£ Upper Plain. Born at ®oskill, Denmark, 65 years ago, the late Mr. Larsen dacded at Wallington with his parents-'63 years ago. The arduous trip to the Wairarapa was undertaken almost, immediately, and the family took up a bush farm in the Mauriceville district. The late Mr. Larsen eventually secured a farm at Putara, which., he carried on successfully until he,-rotired :and came to live in Masterton about nine years ago. In his younger days Mr. Laraea was a champion wrestler and also showed marked ability in several other 'branches of- sport. During his stay in Masterton he was a keen and active member of the Masterton, Bowling Club, A particularly fine type of pioneer settler, he- was widely known and respected throughout the district, and the sympathy of a host of friends will be extended: to the, widow and relatives in their sad bereavement. He is sur- „ vived by a widow and one daughter, I Mrs. H. Allan, Putara. Messrs. Lars V P., Lansdowne; Edward, Wrigley Street; Hans and Carl, Putara; Peter, Waipiro Bay; Neils, Te Kuiti, and Walter Larsen, Wanganui, are brothers; and Mesdamcs F. Percy, Alfredton, and W. Nation, Hunterville, are sisters. The funeral will take place to-morrow, leaving Mr. G. Hyde’s Chapel, Church Street, at 3 p.m., for the Mastortoa Cemetery.
