The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—A slight anti-cyclone covers New Zealand while a shallow but deepening westerly depression is crossing the South Tasman Sea; forecast, winds north to west south of New Plymouth and Castlepoint, southerlies thence northward, veering gradually to northerlies, force moderate mainly but increasing in southern districts; weather for the most part fine, but showers developing later in Westland and about Foveaux Straits; temperatures milder.
