CRICKET.

PIRINOA v. RELIEF CAMP.

(“The Age” Special.) There was a large attendance at the cricket match between Pirinoa and the Relief Camp, which was played at the Camp Oval at the week-end. Great interest was taken in the match owing to the fact that it was the first cricket match played locally for a long period. The Camp won by three wickets. Tikao for the visitors, won the toss, and elected to bat on a good wicket. The prinscorers were: Flutey 15, Te Whaiti 17, Viles and Saunders 16 each; the total being 128. The bowling of the Chrnp boys was first-class, Asher bowling exceptionally well and coming out with the splendid average of four wickets for 10 runs. Jepson and Harrison also bowled well. The Camp team, in their first innings made 149, mainly due to the fine batting of their captain, Simmonds, who scored 31. Jepson 21 Harrison 20, Foley 14, Watson .10 and Asher 10 were the other principal scorers. In the visitors’ second venture they scored 82, Hunter (24) and Flutey (30) contributing more than half the total. - Asher, Watson, Jepson and Foster divided the bowling honours. Requiring >6l runs to win, the Camp obtained the required number with the loss of eight wickets. Hunter and Miles bowled splendidly for the visitors. The Pirinoa team were hospitably treated -by the Camp boys at lunch and afternoon tea. During the afternoon tea adjournment several running events were held.
