APPEAL FAILS. A. E. ELLIS’S 'SUSPENSION. DUNEDIN, February 17. At a meeting of the District Committee, A. E. Ellis’s appeal against his suspension for one month by the Judicial Committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club was dismissed. —(P.A.) WIN AND PLACE. ADOPTED BY WAIMATE. WAIMATE, February 17. The Waimate Baeing Club, which previously favoured the five-shilling totalisator for its forthcoming meeting, has abandoned this for the win-and-placo system.—(P.A.) RANGITIKEI CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING MAECH 8. The Wanganui District Committee has approved of Wednesday, March 8, for the Bangitikei Baeing Club’s annual meeting, and the following oneday programme has been drawn up: — Highweight Handicap, of_6ssovs, one mile and a quarter; Maiden Plate of 50sovs., six furlongs; Sandon Hack Handicap, of 60sovs. six furlongs; Rangit.ikei Handicap (open) of 90sovs. (including plate valued 15sovs), seven furlongs; Hack Cup of 85sovs (including canteen of cutlery valued UOsovs. presented by Messsr John Dewar and Sons, Ltd., Distillers), seven furlongs; Bangitoto Hack Handicap, of 65sovs, eight and a half furlings; Farewell Haek Handicap, of 50sovs, five furlongs. Good rains have improved^the tracks, and the going should be first class for the meeting. The usual officials will be in attendance as follows: Handicapper, Mr. J. E. Henrys; starter, Mr. W. C. Price; judge, Mr. J. Cameron. The popular straight-out and the place totalisator will be in operation, and the admission charges have been reduced in keeping with the times, viz., gents (all lawn privileges) ss; ladies, 2s od. Messsr Dustins Ltd. will provide luncheon and afternoon teas, and .the publican's booths will be conducted by Mr. Geo. Luoni, of Palmerston North. Nominations for all events (including the Maiden Plate) will close with the Secretary, Mr. H. A. Goodall, Bulls, on Monday, February 20 at 9 p.m. Weights will be declared on February 27 and the acceptances will close on Friday March 3, at 9 p.m. WOODVILLE RACES. AUTUMN MEETING THIS MONTH. The Woodville Jockey Club will hold its autumn meeting on Wednesday and Thursday, February 22 and 23. The first race is timed to start at noon. A feature of this popular meeting will be the win and place totalisators, with 10s units. The prices have been reduced to meet the times, men ss, ladies 2s. In to-day’s advertising columns will be found particulars of the issue of special excursion tickets and local train arrangements in connection with the race meeting at Woodville on February 22 and 23.
