COMMENT ON TEST DEFEA/L’ IN AUSTRALIA. CREDIT WHERE IT IS DUE. SYDNEY, February 17. Newspapers, critics, and players are unanimous that England won because it was the better team. The “Herald” says: “The Englishmen definitely have proved their superiority during the series, and the captaincy of Jardine nas been a match-winning factor.” Kippax says: “Larwood was the idominating factor, but great credit is due to Jardine for the way he handled the team.” Bradman said: “Apart from the second Test, the Australians were always underneath. Let us be fair by saying ‘The better side won.' ”
