TRIPLE TRAGEDY.
VERDICT ON HIKURANGI FATALITIES. _ WHANGAREI, February 17. An inquest was held at Hikurangi to-day concerning the triple tragedy at the Ackers coal mine. A verdict was returned that Albert Ackers met his death through unwittingly encountering black damp; that James Ackers died similarly when attempting to rescue Albert; and that Jaek Ackei-s died in the same way when trying to save the others.—(P.A.)
