SMALLPOX OUTBREAK.
EPIDEMIC IN PUNJAB. T.B. ALSO RAMPANT. CALCUTTA, December 23. The absence of rain is responsible for a severe epidemic of smallpox in many towns and villages in tho Punjab, nearly a thousand dying in eight weeks in Lahore, where tuberculosis is also rampant, due to bad sanitation and food adulteration. Of two thousand who contracted the disease in the last twelve months six hundred died.
