KINGSFORD SMITH.
TOUR OF NEW ZEALAND. VISIT TO MAOTEETON. Mr. Wilfrid Kingsford Smith, accompanied by Mr. B. Shell, Aviation Officer of the Vacuum Oil Co., Pty., Ltd., will shortly call at Masterton to make arrangements for the forthcoming visit of the famous aviator to this district. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith will probably visit Masterton on Thursday, January 26. He will spend the day here and will probably be entertained at an informal function. Mr. W. Kingsford Smith arrived by the Zealandia this week to finalise all matters in connection with the passenger carrying tour of New Zealand by his brother, Sir Charles Kingsford Smith. The following places have been definitely selected for landings: New Plymouth, Auckland, Hamilton, Gisborne, Napier, Hastings, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Levin, Masterton, and jVhangarei and a number of other <owns will be visited to see if a calj can be arranged. Mr. Kingsford Smith stresses the point that Sir Charles is visiting the Dominion for business reasons . and that he will have to reluctantly decline many cordial invitations to social functions. The work of making continuous flights in the daytime is veryonerous, and it is only by sparing social activities in the evenings that he is able to carry on. He has had some very lucrative offers to go abroad, but he desires to remain in Australasia and it is only by watching his health and strength that he is able to carry on.
