BUTTER PRODUCTION.

MAURICEVILLE DAIRY CO.’S ANNUAL BEPORT.

INCREASE IN SUPPLIES.

A further increase in the supply is recorded in the forty-third annual report of the Mauriceville Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd. The reports states: — u During the past 12 months prices for butter and cheese have been very disappointing for producers. By continuing our policy of judicious forward sales and a careful watch over collection and manufacturing charges, we believe our pay-out will compare favourably with the majority of factories operating in the Dominion. We made 996 tons 17cwt. of butter, being an increase of 51 tons 3cwt. as compared with the previous season. Had it not been for the exceptional spell of dry weather experienced in the South Wairarapa, our expectations of 1000 tons of butter would have been com siderably exceeded. Our aim to make rhe highest possible monthly advances was maintained during the season, and notwithstanding this fact our total interest and bank charges was only I9s Id. This was largely due to caremi handling of the funds. The machinery, etc., exchange, inaugurated by the secretary about 18 months ago, is still functioning, and is widely availed of *nd appreciated. On July 20 we paid Id bonus over the months of December and January. A further bonus of Id on. all butterfat supplied between November T, 1931, and May 1, 1932, is being paid out on September 20. This will bring the average payment on ‘finest’ up to 11.68 d per lb. landed at factory. Provision has been made for payment of five per cent, on paid-up capital. Suppliers are reminded that cheques for their butterfat may be paid direct to their bank account at no cost to themselves. A very large number of suppliers are availing themselves of this free service. Our carriers deserve your hearty thanks for the generous manner in which they have met the present economic situation by offering reductions in cartage charges. The staff are also worthy of thanks for the conscientious manner in which they have performed their respective duties. The directors who retire by rotation are Messrs Myers and Nielsen and are eligible for re-election. The retiring auditor, Mr. A. Keith, offers himself for re-election. (Signed) H. Myers, Chairman.” The annual meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 27.
