DINNERS FOR CHILDREN.

EXPRESSION OF THANKS. (To the Editor). Sir, —During the winter term which has just passed a hot dinner has been given on every school day to over sixty children. May we, through your paper, cffer our thanks to all thooe who live so liberally supported us in this movement. In particular we would like to thank Captain and Mrs Riseley of the Salvation Army for, without the hearty co-operation of these two together with the organisetion which they represent the work which has been carried out would have been well nigh impossible. It is impossible for us to thank individually all those who have rendered assistance. We have received gifts of money, meat, vegetables, bread, milk, groceries, cooking utensils and table ware, and to each and all of these donors we extend our heartfelt thanks. In this connection we ‘kould like especially to mention the work of Mr. J. C. Broad, who organised and controlled in conjunction with Mr H. B. Thomas, the supply of meat. During the period the work was carried out more than sixty ladies have taken their turn at cooking and washing up, and to these also we wish to express our appreciation of the way they have carried out their work. May we add, Sir that in our opinion this work, forced on us through the times in which we live, has been successful, inasmuch as we have known that the food which has been given to us to distribute has reached those in need and has not been wasted. Strict accounts have been kept of al] produce received and of all money rece'ved and expended, and these accounts may be examined by any donor or other responsible person. Thanking you for permitting us to use vour space.—We are, etc. J. V. GORDON, Chai.man Aiasterton West School Committee. H. H. DANIELL, Chairman Lansdowne School Committee.
