Masterton.—Miss R. Robinson reported at 9 a.m.:—•
August 27: Barograph, 30.25; shade temperature, maximum 69.4, minimum 42.8; terrestrial, 34; sunshine, 9 hours 18 minutes.
August 28: Barograph 30; shade temperature, maximum 64.4 minimum 52.8; terrestrial 49.6; sunshine, 4 hours 10 minutes; rain 67 points. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Eidson) reported at 4 p.m, yesterday:—A vigorous depression has crossed the Dominion and a moderate anticyclone is now advancing from the westward; the forecast is for winds, moderate to strong southerlies; weather unsettled with showers in most districts and further heavy falls in the Cook Strait area. Conditions improving soon, however, in western districts and gradually elsewhere; cold temperatures.—(P.A.) Sun rises, 6.22 a.m.; sets, 5.22 p.m. Lighting-up time.—s.s2 p.m.
