HERD TESTING.

DOMINION GROUP FEDERATION. ANNUAL MEETING. PALMERSTON N., June 20. The annual meeting of the Dominion Group Herd Testing Federation was held to-day, Mr. Dynes Fulton ingMr Singleton stated that the question of a subsidy from the Government was in the lap of the gods. At the same time it was hoped that the Government would feel that herd testing should receive every consideration. Professor Riddet, said that at Massey College, 229 certificates had been issued to date and these men were capable of handling herd-testing work. Ho paid a tribute to the type of men taking the course, stating that the federation would reap the benefit of these men later.

Mr. Fulton gave notice of motion that the Management Committee evolve the ward system for the election of the Management Committee.

Officers were elected as follow: — President, Mr. Fulton; Management Committee, Messrs. G. R. Herron, W. Parlane (South Island), G. H. Bell (Taranaki), E. D. Tremaine (North Auckland), A. T. Carroll (Wairoa, Hawke’s Bay), W. J. Law (Bay of Plenty). The question of appointing four representatives on the Central Executive was referred to the Management Committee.

The conference discussed the marking of cull cows, but 'decided to postpone action till next year, though it was agreed that a mark to distinguish cull cows at sales was desirable. It was decided to make the rules issued by the federation binding on all affiliated associations, with the right of the Management Committee to make concessions thought necessary.

The rules were amended to allow South Island associations to 'date the testing season from July 1 instead of June 1.

Remits making amendments to the rules were also adopted.—(P.A.)
