Masterton.—Miss R. Robinson reported at 9 a.m. yesterday:—Barograph, •29.70. Shade temperature: Maximum, 56.4; minimum, 33.6; terrestrial, 24.2. Sunshine, 8 hours 12 minutes. Frost, 6.2 degrees.
The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—Another of the recent series of deep westerly depressions is passing to the south to-day. Barometers are rising slowly in Eastern Australia. The forecast is for strong westerly winds, reaching gale force in places, later backing to south-west and south. Weather squally and changeable; rain in districts with a westerly aspect and later extending along most of the East Coast; hail in places and snow in parts of southern districts; cold temperatures.
