SELF HELP CLUB.

DISTRIBUTION OF MEAT ON SATURDAY. DONATIONS ACKNOWLEDGED. A distribution of meat was made on Saturday, at the rear of Messrs. Barber Bros.’ shop, by members of the Self Help Club. Over two thousand pounds of meat was distributed to 310 men with 900 dependents. Mr. R, D. McKenzie, of Kopuaranga, donated a bullock, and the rest of the meat was purchased through the Mayor’s Unemployment Relief Fund. A deputation from the Self Help Clubs of the Wairarapa will wait on the Wairarapa Hospital Board at its meeting on Friday, with a request that a subsidy be granted on the club’s expenditure.

The Masterton Self Help Club wish to thank Messrs. Tozer and Cameron for supplying refreshments free to members of the clnb engaged in Saturday’s distribution of meat. The club also wishes to acknowledge with thanks the fololwing donations Seven bags swedes, W. Wrigley, Bideford,• 1 bag oatmeal, 2 bags rice, bread, Anon; 1 blanket, Miss Sutherland; blankets, Anon; 1 bag sugar, 31b tea, Anon; 1 sack carrots, Mrs. Beven; 1 bag flour, Anon; 1 wool rug, 5 pairs socks, W. Hendry; 2 pairs sleeping suits, 3 pairs underpants, 1 shirt, 6 singlets, 1 blanket, Mr. Dunderdale; 1 quilt, Mrs. Caselberg; sick room requisites, Masterton chemists; 1 sack potatoes. Mrs MaeLaughlan; 3 blankets. Hendry & Co.; quarter of beef, R. D. McKenzie, Kopuaranga; 259 books for club library. Masterton Fire Brigade; half-ton of swedes, W. McGovern, Te Ore Ore- Il loaves of bread a week for eight weeks, ' T ' Bi ch; parcels of clothing Mrs. W. McGregor. Poro Poro, Miss Selby, Miss Kummer; ■niankets, G. Shaw, Te Ore Ore. Miss Cripps, Upper Plain; blankets and eiderdowns, Mrs. D. Buchanan; TO loaves of bread a week for one month, per the Rev. John Davie (second bread donation.) COMBINED COMMITTEE. MEETING' ON THURSDAY. A further meeting of representatives o. the various charitable organisations ol Masterton which have agreed to cooperate m the relief of distress, will be held in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms on Thursday afternoon.
