SEVERE EXPLOoiON WRECKS STORE. — FIREMAN KILLED AND OTHERS INJURED. INCENDIARISM SUSPECTED. (Received Wednesday, 9.20 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 18. Fire at Armidale this morning reached the stock of explosives in Braund and Company’s store The resultant explosion wrecked the building, killed a fireman named Jones, and injured two others seriously and several slightly. The whole town was shaken and manywindows smashed in nearby premises. i Suspicious circumstances are associated with the fire, as a motor car without lights was seen leaving the scene before the discovery of the outbreak. Detectives are investigating. The iron store in which tho explosion occurred was detached from the main store premises, which were gutted by fire only three weeks ago, causing damage estimated at £20,000. The windows ef every building nearby were smashed, and dwellings roeked. At least five thousand detonators exploded.
