WORK TO RESUME.

WEST COAST COAL MINES. CONFERENCE ARRANGED. GREYMOUTH, May 17. The coal mines in the Grey and Inangahua districts will resume operations to-morrow, consequent upon the receipt by the miners’ organisation of a telegram from the Coal Owners’ Federation to the effect that a conference is being arranged in order to negotiate a new agreement. The miners, meantime, are working under the old agreement. It is doubtful, however, whether the Buller miners will resume before Thursday, as intimation of the owners’ decision regarding a conference arrived too late to allow of the Buller unions being advised by telegram to-night of resumption. The date of the conference is to be advised later by the coal owners. —(P.A.)
