PARISHIONERS’ ANNUAL MEETING. GOOD PROGRESS RECORDED. there was a good attendance at the annual meeting of parishioners of St. Matthew’s, held last evening in the Parish Hall. The Vicar, the Rev. E. J. Rich, presided. The Viear, in dealing with the spiritual side of church work, said good progress had been made in all departments. The various Parish organisations had all co-operated splendidly. He thanked all church workers and helpers for their services during the year. In speaking to the balance sheet Mr. T. T. Denbee said the financial position of the parish, as disclosed by the balance sheet, was eminently satisfactory. To come through a difficult year and find the finances of the parish better under all heads by over £lOO than they were a year ago was an achievement of which they could all feel proud. At the last meeting of tue Vestry, said Mr. Denbee, the Vicar had volunteered the statement that both Mr. McLevie and he wished their stipends tc be reduced by 10 per cent. Such a gesture from the clergy voluntarily made was very much appreciated by the Vestry. 'The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: Vicar’s warden, Mr. R. E. Maunsell; people’s warden, Mr. J. Ninnes (re-elected); vestrymen, Messrs E. Hale, T. T. Denbee, G. Hyde, E. J. Coleman, W. Hickson, H. M. Peacock, W. Penistone, R. Russell, W. A. Clarke and Dr. Archer Hosking; synodsmen, Messrs Sydney Smith and H. A. R. Dunderdaie; hen. auditors, Messrs G. W. Sellar and N. H. James (re-elected); hon. secretary, Mr. T. T. Denbee; hon. treasurer, Mr. H. A. R. Dunderdaie. The annual reports which have already appeared in “The Age” and the balance sheet were adopted.
