BRUTAL MURDER.
TRAGEDY IN HOBART. MONEY DEMANDED. (Received Tuesday, 11.5 p.m.) HOBART, April 5. A cold-blooded murder was perpetrated in Harrington Street, Hobart. The victim was Charles Whelan, 65, a watersider, living alone, who was shot dead by two men who were later seen running away from the scene. A ‘ neighbour heard the men demanding money in the vilest laguage, also Whelan’s protests. He was then shot and the neighbour followed the men for some distance. He then returned end found Whelan dead.
