SOUTH AUCKLAND OPEN WELL. NELSON BATSMEN HAMILTON, January 29. Nelson commenced a Hawke Cup challenge match against South Auckland, at Hamilton, to-day, under ideal weather conditions. Batting first, the home side compiled 321, Cassidy, the opening batsman playing a patient knock for .86. Skeet gave a forceful display for 34 and F. Lumsden 42, also contributed a valuable innings.
