The romantic picture, “Son of India,’’ is to be shown finally at the Regent Theatre this evening. Reserves at Vare’s, or ring Theatre, ’phone 2303. COMING TO-MORROW. ‘ ‘ TRANSGRESSION. ’ ’ Featuring three stars of exceptional ability and boasting' a story of unusual merit, “Transgression,” Radio Pictures’ widely heralded dramatic feature film, heads the new programme to be presented at the Regent Theatre tomorrow. Beautiful Kay Francis, whoso rise to screen stardom has been deserved and rapid, Ricardo Cortez, suave villain of the talkies, and Paul Cavanagh, notable stage star, play the principal roles. The story, from Kato Jordan’s novel, “The Next Corner,” lleals with the mental torment of a young woman reared in the peace and quiet of an English countryside who goes to Paris and struggles against conscience and impulse when an ardent lover attempts to sweep her off her feet. From the quiet, pleasing panorama of an English countryside, the picture moves swiftly to the’night of Paris with its kaleidoscopic parade of women flirting with the danger of pleasure and thence to a romantic setting in the wilds of Spain. It is said that Kay Francis is superb as the wife and lias never been seen to better advantage than in “Transgression. ” Miss Francis wears a number of striking gowns representing the latest in Paris modes. Ricardo Cortez is excellent as the Spanish nobleman who considers every woman fair game. He plays with smoothness and understanding. Paul Cavanagh gives a sensitive portrayal as the husband. The whole of the glamorous story is enriched by beautiful settings. An unusually competent supporting cast includes such favourites as Nance O’Neill, Ruth Weston, John St. Polis and Adrienne d’Ambrieourt. Seats may be reserved at Vare’s, or ring Theatre, ’phone 2303.
