MASTERTON RACES.
POSSIBILITY OF MEETING BEING HELD. CONSIDERATION BY STEWARDS TO-DAY. OWNERS AND TRAINERS WILL SUPPORT CLUB. There is still a prospect that the Masterton Racing Club will be enabled to revoke the decision reached last week not to hold its spring meeting on October 7, and a special meeting of the stewards has been called for this afternoon, when the discussion will be reopened and the position further reviewed. The elub realises the serious difficulties that have confronted owners and trainers through the abandonment of the meeting, and if it is at all possible to reinstate the meeting it will do so. It is stated that the stewards can be assured that if the club does decide to carry on it will have the wholehearted support of owners and trainers in the Wellington district. The Otaki Maori Racing Club has applied to have its dates advanced from October 0 and 10 to the Masterton week-end (October 16 and 17), and'the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club has asked for a change from September 26- to October 10, to avoid a clash with a representative football match. Such a rearrangement, of course, cannot be allowed if Masterton decides to race. Another club that has applied for an alteration in dates is the Marton Jockey Club, which is asking for .permission to race on October 14 instead of on October 7.
