PRIMARY EDUCATION.

MEETING OF MASTERTON WEST SCHOOL COMMITTEE. At a meeting of the Masterton West School Committee on Tuesday night, there were present, Messrs. J. V. Gordon (chairman), J. L. Hughes, F. Wright, E. Hollis, J. A.. Russell, J. J. McLeary, and the headmaster (Mr. W. Hickson). The headmaster reported:— Main School: Roll number, 875; average attendance, 348. Side school: Roll number, 121; average attendance, 111. Combined: Roll number, 49§; average attendance, 459. The water supply to the mefn school had been renewed. -Miss I. Taylor was granted leave of absence from December, 1931, to November, 19-32, in order to exchange duties with an Australian teacher.

Messrs. Hughes and Russell were appointed a subcommittee to attend to the drainage of surface water from the school ground and to interview the Borough Engineer (Mr. Mabson) regarding the matter.
