A quiet wedding was celebrated recently, the contracting parties being Miss Olive Stone, of Pongaroa, and Mr. Joseph H. Hayes, of Kaituna.

At Tuesday’s meeting of the Masterton County Council Mr. S. L. Orr was appointed to the position of Assistant Clerk, made vacant by the resignation of Mr. M. C. Fairbrother, who has accepted a position in Samoa. Dr. J. A. Cowie and Dr. Helen Cowie, Perry Street, Masterton, are on a visit to Dunedni. They will attend, the capping ceremony at the Otago University where Miss E. Cowie obtained her B.A. degree. Dr. Johnston, of Wellington, is acting locum tenens.
