MAN DRAGGED OUT OF FIRE. TERBIBLE INJURIES. WHANGAREI, July 1?. Albert McCaskie, aged 69, living in a whare on tfhe gumfield at Poroti, had a sudden seizure and fell into the fire. His dog, a halfbred retriever, dragged him from the flames, saving him from death. Though terribly burned, McCaskie was able to summon help, and was conveyed to the Whangarei Hospital. Among other extensive injuries, his right hand was charred to ’he bone, and will probably have to be* amputated.—(P.A.)
