CONGRESS COMPELS PRESIDENT TO RESIGN. IMMEDIATE ELECTION, TO TAKE PLACE. (Received Sunday, 11.30 p.m.) CARACAS (Venezuela), June 14. President Juan Bautista Perez sent in his resignation on Saturday to the Venezuelan Congress, which unanimously accepted it, fixing June 19 for the election of a new President. Congress had demanded that Senor Perez step down and that a Cabinet be selected by Dr. Itriago Chacin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, who will act as interim President.
