COSY THEATRE.

“SCOTLAND YARD.” Lovers of intense drama coloured by plot complications and unusual chara<’xorisutions were given a treat again a'* the Cosy Theatre on Saturday when “ Scotland Yard,” Fox Movietone drama featuring Edmund Lowe and Joan Bennett was screened. It will be shown finally to-night. Edmund Lowe in a dual role in which he portrays both a criminal and a gentleman was especially pleasing to his admirers who delight in his clever originality. Joan

Bennett, who portrays the feminine lead, succeeded admirably in bringing • onviction and pathos to a role tha. demanded these qualities when confronted with one of the most amazing dramatic problems over screened. This occurs when a man impersonating her husband returns from wa.r, his face transformed by a plastic surgeon, and succeeds in convincing everybody, in eluding herself, that he is“her lawful husband. On the supporting program me is the most amazing yet humorous comedy ever brought to the talking screen. It is called “The Little Covered Wagon” and is played entirely by an all-monkey cast of super intelligence. They ride horses, shoot with both bands and use lassos. Box plans are at Varc’s or ring Theatre after 6.30 p.m.

COMMENCING TO-MORROW. “SHOWS OF SHOWS.” “Shows of Shows,” the Warner Brothers >and Vitaphone super-revue in technicolour which begins its run at the Cosy Theatre for two nights with a matinee on Wednesday, is a kaleido seopie extravaganza, numbering more stars than any other picture ever screened and including in its cast over five hundred supporting people. There are acts covering every sort of entertainment, but none is more lovely than the “Chinese Fantasy,” in which Myrna Loy and Nick Lucas, the “crooning troubadour,” are featured with a chorus of a hundred Oriental I eauties. This exquisite bit of old China was created and staged by the celebrated Jack Haskell. Another unique feature of this especial act is the fact that Rin Tin Tin himself introduces it.
