Masterton: Miss R. Robinson report ed at 9 a.m.:—-

May 2: Barograph, 30.(15; shade temperature, maximum 49.8, minimum 44; terrestrial, 34. , 6; sunskinc, 5 hours 42 minutes; rain, 9 points.

May 3: Barograph, 30.48; shade temperature, maximum. 55.2, minimum 34.4; terrestrial, 25; sunshine, 4 hours 12 minutes; frost, 5;4 degrees. Solway Rainfall: Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that rain was measured on 12 days in April, the maximum fall being 85 points on the 12th; minimum, 2 points on the 13th; total for month, 3.50 inches, as against 2.70 (1'930); 4.14 (1929); 4.33 (1928), 3.03 (1927); .50 (1926); monthly April average for 28 years, 2.74 inches. The total rain measured for the four months was 8.26 as compared with 11.99 (1930), 8.79 (1929). 8.85 (1928), 9.06 (1927), 8.26 (1926), average for 28 yea.rs 10.86 inches.

The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—An anti-cyclone has been crossing the Dominion to-day while a moderate depression has been advancing over the southern Tasman 'Sea; the barometers have risen over eastern Australia; the forecast is for freshening northerly winds, backing to southerlies in the south after about 20 hours and later southerlies becoming general; weather still mainly fair at first, but cloud and haze increasing generally and showers developing soon in western districts and in southern extremeties of the Dominion.
