PING PONG.
MASTERTON WINTER SPORTS CLUB.
VISIT FROM DALEFIELD TEAM.
A team of ping pong players from Dalefield visited Masterton on Saturday evening to play members of the Winter Sports Club in the Y.M.CA.. Gymnasium. Some very enjoyable games resulted. The teams match contest for the Spa Ming Cup was also decided by members of the Miasterton Club. In the first round G. Joy’s team beat B. Whitburn’s and M. Winslade’s beat J. Cameron’s. The final between Joy’s and Winsla'de’s teams was won by the former, the section games resulting as follow, Joy’s team given first in each case: Men’s singles, nil, 4; ladies 1 ’ singles 2,1; combined doubles 3, nil; ladies’ doubles 1, nil; men’s doubles 1,1; total 7, 6. Next Saturday the season will be concluded. The finals of the men's and ladies’ singles and the combined doubles championship events will be decided and a knock-out combined doubles tournament held, in which all players, including visiting Kopuaranga and Dale-field players will take part. Trophies will be offered for the winners of the tournament and the trophies won during the season will be I presented. The proceedings will conclude with a dance.
