ATMORE REPORT.

BEARING ON TECHNICAL EDUCATION. DUNEDIN CRITICISM. DUNEDIN, August 27. “The measure, if adopted, wiU be one of the biggest blows against technical education,” said Mr. Scott, chairman of the Technical College Board, when that body considered the Atmore Report. A special committee appointed by the board reported seriatim on the proposals and concluded: “The more deeply the report is studied, the more plainly the fact emerges that technical education presents problems too complex to be dealt with in the simple fashion suggested. The main trend of the Report seems to be towards the elimination of technical schools from the national system, and the administrative measures proposed would seem not designed to encourage a subsequent revival of interest in technical education.”—(P.A.)
