SETTLERS- ASK FOR RELIEF. (By Telegraph.—“ The Age” Special.) WELLINGTON, August 27. Nine Tinui settlers who were parties to a joint agreement for telephone connection ’ with the Masterton exchange, have petitioned through Col. T. W. McDonald, M.P., asking to be relieved of the obligation to make- good the default of one of the signatories to the extent of his annual rental of £l5. They contend that the present annual revenue of £135 is an adequate return to the Department.
