REDUCTION OF ONE PENNY PEB GALLON. It is announced that the retai' ■ prices of petrol in Masterton haVWflj been reduced by one penny per gallon so that they will now be: First gnade, 2s 3d; second grade, 2s 2d. HALF OF NEW TAX BORNE BY COMPANIES. WELLINGTON, August 27. The main importing companies of bulk motor spirits have decided that the prices of the brands of motor spirit imported by the Shell, Vacuum, Atlantic Union, Texas and ■ Big Tree com* panics, all grades, will be reduced by one penny per gallon, both on bulk and eases, as from to-morrow (Thursday). This means these oil companies are absorbing one penny per gallon of the taxation recently imposed and that the motorist will qply be charged an additional penny.—(P.A.)
