GERMAN OIL MAGNATE’S . WIFE INJURED. STRANGE AFFAIR AT HAMBURG. BLACKIfAILEIuS SUSPECTED. BERLIN, August 25. A mysterious bomb plot against Herr Schielmann, the German oil magnate, resulted in his young wife being taken to the hospital at Hamburg in a serious condition. Diirii g the night cut all the mnlioni/re's telephone wires And. attached a cord from a shutter to an inferhal irithinc in the garden, load* <-d with a powerful explosive. The bomb wa-i <covered in the mining, the fuse having failed to cause an explosion, but meanwhile Frau Schliemann trod on a stick cunningly connected with a second bomb concealed nearby, and exploded its contents. The wife fell unconscious and her face and arms were cut by a .score of fragments of the bomb. It. seems that Schliemann was recently the recipient Of a blackmailing letter demanding £1256. The millionaire, however, put the matter in the hands of the police. The dynamite outrage may be the blackmailers' revenge.
