Masterton l —Miss R. Robinson reported at 9 a.m. yesterday:—Barograph, 30.40. Shade temperature, 'maximum, 62.8; minimum, 43,6; terrestrial, 38. Sunshine, 4 hours 30 minutes. Rain, 93 points. ’Solway.—Mr. H. M. Buddington re. ports that 94 points of rain were registered at Solway for the 24 hours up till 9 a.m. yesterday. Sun rises, 6.39 a.m.; sets, 5.25 p.m. "Lighting-up time—s.4B p.m. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday: The pressure is still rather high over the Dominion, "but a series of shallow cyclones has been moving from the north Tasman Sea across the northern portion. The forecast is for northerly in the Far North, elsewhere easterly to south-easterly prevailing, moderate generally, but strong at times about Cook Strait. Seas rather rough in the Cook Strait area, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Weather still dull, misty and unsettled, »with further rain in most districts; some heavy falls in the central portions of the North Island; mainly fair on the West Coast of the ’South Island. Cold temperatures.
