COMMITTEE DEBATE ON TITLE OF BILL. (By Telegraph.— The “Age” Special.) WELLINGTON, August 13. Having completed the second reading of the Customs Amendment Bill by a sitting extending almost till daybreak, the House of Representatives commenced the next stage this afternoon, that of committee consideration, Which provided an oppo.rt.nni ty, if necessary, of challenging every individual item of the new proposals. However, before the clauses and schedule of the Bill could be considered there was its title to' pass and on that topic the whole range of the proposals in the measure and possible alternatives came under review. The Second Reading debate was repeated almost exactly, no fresh points being heard in many hours > discussion. The title was still awaiting adoption at 11 p.m.
