PIGEON SHOOTING.
NEW ZEALAND . CHAMPIONSHIP. WON BY M. PRATT. CHRISTCHURCH, August 11. The New Zealand live pigeon championship was fired to-day in dull weather, but the absence of wind was welcomed by the shooters. There were 31 entries. The championship was won by M. Pratt (Hamilton) with E. F. Stead (Christchurch) runner-up. In the first shoot, eight killed 20 birds, EL P. Graham, H. Grennell, R. Mcllwriek, M. Pratt, R. S. Taylor, E. F. Stead, T. M. Wright and W. G. Gerard. These divided the prize money. In the shoot-off, Pratt shot 19 straight, Stead failed at the 19th, Wright at the 16th, Taylor at the 11th, Gerard and Grenfell at the 6th, Graham at the sth and McUwriek missed the first bird.—(P.A.)
