RABBITSKIN SALE.

Messrs. Dalgety and Co. Ltd. report: —We held our fifth sale of rabbitskins this afternoon at the Dominion Farmers’ Institute. We submitted a very attractive 'catalogue of all grades to a full attendance of buyers. Our offering comprised some large consignments drawn from the Marlborough district, Wairarapa, King Country, Taihape and various parts of the North Island. Since our last sale we have received a report on the London sales advising a further drop of from 15 per cent, to 30 per cent, and this depreciation was naturally reflected at our sale to-day. Tremendous stocks of skins axe still unsold in London and until these are disposed of, no improvement in the market can be looked for. Until trade improves in England and on the Continent and the stocks go into consumption, prices cannot improve. Exporters and shippers have lost heavily on their purchases, and at present only feel inclined to purchase at low rates. Some good winter skins were available and these were bought chiefly on American account. The following is the range of prices:—Runners, to s£d; summers and springs, to IGid; light racks, jto lOJd; prime racks, to lOd; dawny autumns, 12Jd to .13Jd; early autumns, 12Jd to T5Jd; late autumns, 13Jd to 221 d; autumns to 18d; inc. winters, 14d to 28}d; early winters, 2Od to 30d; super early, 37d to 39|d; super early, 23d to 31Jd; super winter bucks, 45d to 551 d; super winter does, 40Jd to 46}d; super inc. winter bucks, to 3Od; super, inc. winter does, 36Jd to 38d; first winter bucks, 36jd to 38d; first winter does,. 30d to 36id; winter broken, 9Jd to 15Jd; 'spotted winters, 19d; to 24Jd; prime blacks, to 40jd; winter blacks, 18d to fawns, 20d to 63d; hareskins, 6d to 6jd.
