HELP FOR SOLDIERS.
MEETING OF CLAIMS BOARD. The meeting of the Claims Board of the Wairarapa Patriotic Association was held in Masterton on Tuesday, tn the absence of the chairman (Mr. D. McGregor, who sent an apology), Mr. J. M. Coradine occupied the chair, and there were also present: Messrs. R. R. Burridge, H. M. Boddington, L. S. Nicol and G. H. Perry. Altogether 25 cases occupied the Board’s attention. Eleven appli cations for temporary financial relief were dealt with. A permanently disabled soldier was advanced a loan of £lOO, free of interest, to assist in the purchase of stock for a farm. An application for a loan of £4OO for the purchase of a farm was declined, as the Board was not satisfied with the proposal. The cases of a number of soldiers in default with their loan payments, and from whom no satisfaction could be obtained, were referred to the Board’s solicitor for action. A number of soldiers were granted extensions of time in which to meet payment of outstanding loan instalments
