THE BETTER TEAM.
WARNER. ON CRICKET TEST PROSPECTS. TRIBUTE TO AUSTRALIANS. LONDON, August 3. j P. F. Warner, in the “Morning Post,” discussing the prospects of the final Test, says: “The impression the earlier Tests leave is that the Australians are the better team. Though England possesses fine individual players, the side does not seem to blend as a combination, largely owing to the lack of all-rounders. Our batting has not quite reached expectation,, despite individual good efforts. Leyland has not done all expected of him. His length is inadequate. Parker is the most effective left-hand bowler in England, but he is 46, and a poor bat and field. Nevertheless, if ® soft wicket is assured, he would strengthen the bowling. Chapman is an inspiring leader, but he seems to have declined a little as a tactician.”
