MASTERTON Y.M.C.A.
STEADY PROGRESS DURING YEAR ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the Masterton branch of the Y.M.C.A. was held last night, the president (Mr. H. M. Peacock) presiding over a fair attendance. The annual report and the financial statement were adopted. Mr. Peacock said some people contended that Masterton did not provide ■efficient scope for the numerous activities of the Y.M.C.A. From the report the year’s work, it would be seen •*Smßt such a statement could only be made by people who were not aware of ithe true scope and value of the association’s activities. The progress made during the year, he observed, had been remarkably steady, and there was no doubt that its work was both worth While and necessary. The activities of ■the association were not well-known in the town because they were carried on quietly. Though progress otherwise had teen good, there was a slight financial deficiency, but he was optimistic enough to believe that thg association would came out on the right side of the ledger. He referred to the loss of Messrs. C. A. Hendry and E. J. Clarke, both of whom had done valuable work. Thanks were also expressed to the Ladies’ Auxiliary and for the very efficient work of the secretary (Mr A DB. Bate). The following were elected to the directorate: Messrs. G. W. Morice, J ~ Handyside, H. L. Pearce. W. White, ~ J. McGregor and G. Masters. Mr A. D. Low was re-elected honorary auditor. J
