A man named T. Lee was admitted to the Masterton Hospital on Saturday night suffering from injuries received at the Waingawa Freezing Works picnic hold at Solway.

During February 24 births, 6 deaths and 7 marriages were registered in Masterton. In February of last year the registrations of births were 20, while the deaths and marriages were the same as for February of this year.

The Mt. Holdsworth Committee has donated three four-feet concrete pipes to the Wairarapa South County Council in connection with the repairs being carried out at the first stream on the Mount Holdsworth Road.

A protest against the pew regulations providing that probationer teachers mus-t pass a special entrance examination before being admitted to a training college has been passed by the South Taranaki branch of Educational Institute. A motion was passed asking that the enforcing of the regulations be postponed till l next year, or that exemption be granted for subjects passed in matriculation or the teachers' “D” examination.

The British Etaapire Games Committee decided last night, reports a Wellington message, that the £lOOO given, by Canada towards the funds of the New Zealand team of athletes to compete at the British Empire games at Hamilton, Canada, next August be allotted to the equipment and expenses of the Dominion rowing eight. It was stated that other branches of sport had foregone their share of the money in order to make it possible to send a rowing eight.—(P.A.) At a meeting of the committee of the Wairarapa High School Old Girls’ Association held last evening, it was decided to hold tennis and basketball competitions between members and present pupils at the High School on the afternoon of Saturday, April 5. A relay race may also be included in the programme of the afternoon. It is hoped that the Old Boys' and Old Girls' associations may be able to arrange for a social gathering in the Orange Hall on the evening of April 5.

Mr. J. A. Seott, who has been president and secretary of the New Zealand Chiropractors' Association for a number of years has agreed to act for one year as technical adviser to the British Chiropractors' Association and will also establish a monthly chiropractic publication for that As sociation. On the eve of his departure Mr. Scott has been elected an honorary life-member of the New Zealand Chiropractors' Association and has also been presented with a cheque, accompanied with the assurance of a hearty welcome, when he is in a position to resume work in New Zealand Mr. and Mrs Scott leave for England on Thursday.

The W.F.C.A., Ltd., will hold a clearing sale to-morrow on account of Mr. C. A. Burling, at Pongaroa yards, at noon. Cars leave Masterton office at 8 a.m.
