WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton.—Mr. R. Brown reported at 9 a.m. yesterday:—Barograph, 29.68. Shade temperature: Maximum, 52.4; minimum, 47.4; terrestrial, 46.8; rain, lin. 7pts. Solway.—Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 90 points of rain were registered at Solway for the 24 hours up till 9 o’clock yesterday morning. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—The cyclone has intensified still further and is now centred just north of East Cape; a new cyclone is apparently developing on the south coast of New South Wales. The forecast is for winds, strong south-westerlies north of Kawhia and Tauraaga; elsewhere moderate to strong south to east winds, reaching gale force between Akaroa and East Cape and i> Cook Strait, moderating gradually to-mor-row; seas, moderate on the west coast of the South Island, heavy in eastern Cook Strait, elsewhere rough; weather, still dull, misty and unsettled, with further rain, heavy and with floods in the Bay of Plenty and Gisborne districts; cold temperatures, with snow on the ranges. Lighting-up time—s. 46 p.m.
