BRUTAL ASSAULT.
MASKED MEN ASSAIL BENT COLLECTOR. LARGE SUM OF MONEY MISSED. (Received Monday, 8.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, August 19. James Stewart, aged 75, a rent collector, was brutally assaulted and robbed to-day of £5 at his home, Paddington. Stewart had just returned home after collecting rents when two masked young men broke into his place, knocked him down, kicked him and rifled his pockets but missed a largo sum in another part of the house.— (Australian Press Association.)
