WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton.—Mr. R. Brown reported at 9 a.m. yesterday: Barograph 30.15; shade temperature: maximum 58.8, minimum 51.4; terrestrial, 39.8; rain, 2 points; sunshine, 1 hour 42 minutes. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kid-son) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—A cyclone has developed to the west of the Auckland Peninsula and is moving eastward. The pressure has again fallen over south-eastern Australia, but has risen in southern NewZealand. The forecast is for winds, variable over the South Island but becoming southerly, light to moderate mainly, but strong about Cook Strait; northerly winds in the North Island and strong to gale force in the Auckland province but a change to southerlies advancing from the west later; New Zealand waters rough north of Kawhia and East Cape and rising about Cook Strait, otherwise smooth to moderate. Weather, dull and misty generally, with rain in most districts but more especially in the North Island, where some heavy falls are expected; temperatures becoming colder with snow on the ranges. Lighting-up time:—s.44 p.m.
