PROVINCIAL CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS. MEETING’ AT THE HUTT. The provincial cross-country championships were held at Hutt Park on Saturday. The course was heavy and a strong wind hindered the runners. There were 56 starters in the B grade. Meit led for the entire journey, winning in 42min 25secs. Results:—A. Meit, Brooklyn (42min 25sec), 1; L. Rutherford, Masterton (42min 49sec) 2; W. G. Cook, Brooklyn (42.53), 3; J. Cut/bush, Hutt Valley (42.55), 4; J. Blair, Wellington (42.59), 5; J. G. McGregor, Brooklyn (43min), 6. Teams Race (B Grade).— Brooklyn (Meit 1, Cook 3, McGregor 6, R. Pederson 8,) Ist. Time, 42min 25eec (excellent under conditions). Rutherford (Masterton) and Cook (Brooklyn) were both disqualified for cutting corners, thus second and third places went to Cutbush and Blair respectively. Brooklyn still win the teams’ race, despite the disqualification of Cook. Thirty-six started in the A grade championship over 6} miles. Silver led over the early stages, but passing the post at the end of the first lap, Stevens was in the lead. Stevens continued to make the pace, and Silver gained considerably over the last half mile, but Stevens had enough left to win by eight yards. Time, 38min. Msec. Results: Stevens, Scottish (38.54), 1; Silver, Scottish (38.56 J 2; Shephard, Wellington (39), 3; Barclay, Brooklyn (39.21 3-5), 4; McCarthy, Hutt Valley (39.32), 5; Sinclair, Scottish (39.38) 6. Teams' Race: Won by Wellington (Shephard 3, Mulcahy 10, Watson ,11, Morris 12). t
