TRAFFIC INSPECTOR.

APPOINTMENT FOR DISTRICT SUPPORTED. MOVE BY COUNTY COUNCILS. A conference of county councils in the No. 10 Highways District was held in Masterton yesterday to consider the appointment of a traffic inspector for the district. Councillor W. I. Armstrong presided. All the various counties of the district were represented except Akitio, and an apology for absence was received from Mr. S. Schofield, of the Castlepoint County Council. After consideration, it Was decided to affirm the principle of the appointment of a traffic inspector for the district and refer the matter back to the respective county councils and recommend that tho different counties give authority to appoint an inspector as soon as possible. The various counties arc to be advised of the proportion of expenses expected to accrue. Another conference will probably be held later to deride on an appointment.
